I love my pasta and I love spaghetti the most. I make a great spaghetti sauce from scratch. It’s so good, my sister, who is the best cook I know, asked to use it. It’s a little spicy but that’s how my family and I like it best. It is based on a recipe I found in one of my cookbooks, but I tweaked it to my taste buds.

* I don’t measure anything out but I’ll add in the actually values of spices you will need. Good cooks never measure I say! Unless you are baking.

Ingredients:

1 Medium Yellow Onion Chopped

1 Medium Green Bell Pepper Chopped

1 28 oz can of Del Monte Italian Recipe Diced Tomatoes

1 14 oz can of Del Monte Italian Recipe Diced Tomatoes

2 8 oz cans of tomato sauce

2-3 garlic cloves finely chopped

2 tsp of Italian Seasoning

1 tsp of fennel seed

1/2 tsp of pepper

2-3 tablespoons of olive oil

In a 4 quart saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Cook the onion, bell pepper, and garlic in oil for about 2-3 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.

Stir in the remaining ingredients and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 45-50 minutes. You can add in your ground beef during this step if you like.

Use the sauce right away or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze the sauce for up to a year. Enjoy sauce over a couple scoops of your favorite pasta.
